How The Accountant collects, uses, discloses and protects personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012.
Introduction
The Accountant ("we", "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals whose personal data we collect. This policy explains how we handle personal data in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (the "PDPA").
By submitting an enquiry, booking a consultation, applying for a position or subscribing to the Premium Membership, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal data as described in this policy.

- Enquiry details — the service required, preferred consultation date and time, and your description of the matter
- Documents you upload — supporting accounting records or files provided with an enquiry or booking
- Recruitment data — CV, qualifications, years of experience, availability and expected salary or allowance
- Membership data — account details, subscription status and consultation history
- Technical data — IP address, browser type and usage data collected through analytics

- Responding to enquiries and providing quotations
- Arranging, confirming and conducting consultations
- Providing accounting, tax, GST and audit-preparation services
- Administering Premium Membership subscriptions and payments
- Assessing job and internship applications
- Sending service updates, booking confirmations and member announcements
- Meeting legal, regulatory and record-keeping obligations
- Improving the website and understanding how it is used
Consent and withdrawal
Where consent is required, we obtain it before collecting personal data — for example, through the consent checkbox on our contact and careers forms.
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us using the details below. We will process your request within a reasonable period. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide certain services to you.
Disclosure to third parties
We do not sell personal data. We may disclose personal data to third parties only where necessary:

- External auditors, tax specialists or other professional advisers, where relevant to an engagement and with your knowledge

We retain personal data only for as long as it is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required for legal, regulatory or business purposes. Recruitment data is retained for a reasonable period to consider future opportunities unless you ask us to delete it.
Access and correction
You may request access to the personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete. We may charge a reasonable fee for access requests as permitted under the PDPA.
